Periodisation & Planning

Aim: This programme will look at the different types of periodisation and the relationship between volume and intensity during the various parts of the playing season. This module will also look at the macro and micro cycles of a periodisation model in relation to Gaelic games.
By the end of the course the coaches will be able:
- Put in place a periodisation plan for their respective teams
- Understand the significance of volume, intensity and frequency
- Appreciate the concept of specificity relating to player & position
- Recognise windows of opportunity – what’s important – when & where?
- Understand the process of overload & adaptation
