“Improving our games through Training & development”
Over 50 Dublin GAA Tutors Graduated on Tuesday 18th May in the Heritage Hotel Portlaoise as part of a joint training initiative with the National University Ireland Galway (NUIG) Adult Education division and Coaching Ireland.
Tutors have now successfully completed both the Foundation Diploma in Training and Education with NUIG and have been assimilated as G.A.A tutors with Coaching Ireland.
Coach Education Programmes attract huge interest nationally and the demand for courses have increased significantly within Dublin. This reflects the desire from the volunteers to improve coaching expertise and gain formal qualifications.
Dr. Seamus MacMathuna, Secretary for Academic Affairs NUI Galway, highlighted, the central role that education and training plays in the development of individuals and communities, and the importance of professional skills development in the workplace, in sport and in society generally. “Through our training partnership with Comhairle Laighean, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael, NUI Galway has been very pleased to cooperate in delivering this professional Foundation Diploma which equips all of you with the coaching and leadership skills essential for your future role as tutors, trainers and coaches within Cumann Lúthchleas Gael”.
Speaking at the graduation ceremony Michael Mc Geehin Coaching Ireland said; “Coaches have a vital role to play in the development of players. A well motivated and knowledgeable coach can improve performance at all levels and coach education plays an essential role in determining the quality of coaches”
